Lobby is a musical theater production about lobbying, governance, and democratic decision-making. The inspiration stems from the architecture of the European Quarter in Brussels, and from the space of the lobby” itself: a place where people cross paths and talk, straddling the line between public and private, transparent and hidden.

As a resident of Brussels — the lobbying capital of Europe — Lennert wants to learn more about what goes on in the corridors of the European institutions, with the ultimate goal of reimagining the lobby space through a theatricalized lobby. The transformative and political power of music is a key element in this endeavor.

Lennert De Vroey (1994) works as a writer and theater maker. Language is central to his work, which often stems from research and a documentary approach, combined with conceptual frameworks and playful formal elements. Previously, he created Loro speelt Laura” (2024, with Gilles Van Hecke) and KAK een ecologische shitshow” (2025, with Egon Schoelynck & Runa Robbroeckx); at Kunstenwerkplaats, he has already been working on Palm” (ongoing, with Elisa Palm). Together with Gilles Van Hecke, he creates theater under the name Loro.

During his residency at Kunstenwerkplaats, Lennert is conducting preliminary research and preparing the further development of the project.
