Kabylifornia is a solo performance navigating identity, legacy, and contradiction.
Moving through three aesthetic layers, post-internet abstraction, stand-up comedy, and poetic intimacy, the work explores my relationship with my father: both a vessel of Kabyle culture and a complex, ambivalent figure in my personal history.

Through family archives, autofiction, and humour, Kabylifornia investigates the transmission of cultural memory, how it warps, shifts, and settles inside a body. It asks: what do we inherit, whether we want it or not? What space is there for reimagining origin stories that are fractured, emotional, and unresolved?

I approach Kabylia through my father, and my father through Kabylia, treating both as landscapes, myths, and questions. This project layered form that plays with audience expectation, intimacy, and discomfort, and speaks across diasporic and queer experiences without flattening them.
