Aggressively Modern Times

Co-production

A gentle punk gesture against the Rules of Art.

What if Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times were filmed today? Not in a factory, but in the field of the arts? Together with Femke Gyselinck, Maya Mertens (Vieze Meisje), Jeroen Van der Ven and Lawrence Mcguire (Hogobogobogo), Ferre Marnef explores what capital means within the fluid labor model of today’s freelancer.

The performance is a visual and sonic collage that drags the present onto the stage: the city as machine, the artist as brand. Caught between functioning and failing, the team of Aggressively Modern Times searches for ways to escape the polished logic of the creative industries.

A hybrid of concert and performance, and at the same time a gentle punk gesture against the Rules of Art.
