A City behind the Scenes is a research project that aims to explore the hidden side of a city – Brussels – from the perspective of the canal. Whilst the canal is like an urban scar, a space often overlooked, it is also the backstage area where essential activities come to light. Taking a multidisciplinary approach, in the form of a collective that redefines itself as needed, we combine interviews, landscape videos, sound recordings, proposals for movement and choreography, and installations. We explore the interstices of a territory, but also new, more open avenues for dissemination.
