Rosie Sommers & Micha Goldberg
Rosie Sommers (°1995) lived and worked for two years in Volksroom, an off-space for performance art in Anderlecht (Brussels). She graduated in 2018 from the Drama department at KASK (Ghent) and completed a Master in Choreography at ISAC (Brussels). She is also active in the Brussels music scene as part of the girls’ band Forsissies.
As a performer, she has collaborated with Thomas Ryckewaert, Bosse Provoost, Amanda Piña, Phoebe Berglund, Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe, Gaël Santisteva, Nathan Ooms, Anna Franziska Jäger, Micha Goldberg, Sophia Rodríguez, Tomas Gonzalez, and Igor Cardellini. She took part in Nightshift at TAZ in the summer of 2022 in Ostend, where she presented her solo performance The Naked Traveller and, together with Micha Goldberg, developed GERMAN STAATSTHEATER, which premiered on 8 February 2024 during It Takes A City at Les Halles de Schaerbeek (Brussels).
In 2023, Rosie also created her own work, Tantra For Beginners, a performance in which she, Nathan Ooms and Castélie Yalombo Lilonge explore the somatic practice of tantra. The piece premiered at VIERNULVIER.
Micha Goldberg (°1983) is a Norwegian performer and theatre maker who studied Physical Theatre at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri in Switzerland and obtained a Master’s degree in Theatre at RITCS (Brussels, 2013). He graduated with his performance CONFETTI, which was presented both in Belgium and abroad. In 2014, he created The Garden Laboratorium and The Primal Money Scream in collaboration with Sophia Rodriguez. In 2016, Micha founded Micha’s Amateur Theatre Group (for professionals).
In recent years, Micha also lived and worked at Volksroom, where the collective initiative Ne mosquito pas, led by Simon Van Schuylenbergh, took shape. For five years, a group of artists from various backgrounds created solo works around themes of failure and guilty pleasures. The idea for GERMAN STAATSTHEATER emerged from this collective.
Micha and Rosie are currently collaborating on a new creation titled DRAMA, an eight-hour performance conceived for the white cube.
