Anouk Friedli & Barbara T'Jonck

Anouk Friedli stu­died direc­ting and wri­ting at RITCS. She lives and works in Brussels as a play­wright, per­for­mer and wri­ter. As a wri­ter and direc­tor, she has wor­ked with Theater Fabuleus, Theater Zuidpool, NTGent, DE SINGEL, Monty Kultuurfaktorij, CAMPO, Kunstenwerkplaats, C‑takt, Literaturhaus Graz and the Shakespeare is Dead Festival, among others. She wro­te and direc­ted the plays Alex Moons and dan­ce, dan­ce, dan­ce [a play in about ten thou­sand words]. The lat­ter play pre­mie­red at DE SINGEL (Antwerp) in the sum­mer of 2024. In addi­ti­on to her work as a wri­ter and direc­tor, she devel­o­ped a feed­back method for devel­o­ping texts with Anna Carlier. With the sup­port of a research grant, she also inves­ti­ga­ted the (im)possibility of direc­ting in non-hier­ar­chi­cal work contexts.

She is cur­rent­ly wor­king with Bas Vanderschoot on Endless Stew, a pro­ject on demo­cra­cy and cir­cu­lar col­la­bo­ra­ti­on in col­la­bo­ra­ti­on with Cultureghem and Workspacebrussels. In 2019, she co-foun­ded For Real vzw with Guus Diepenmaat. Under this ban­ner, they made together What The God’ , a ritu­al per­for­man­ce about the rela­ti­ons­hip bet­ween ratio and under­bel­ly that was shown at Theater Aan Zee fes­ti­val, C‑takt fes­ti­val and Love At First Sight fes­ti­val, among others. Guus and Anouk are also the foun­ders of ANGRYBODIES, a per­for­ma­ti­ve punk band that cele­bra­tes the eman­ci­pa­to­ry power of anger.


Barbara T’Jonck is a per­for­mer, the­a­ter maker and artis­tic researcher with a back­ground in Philosophy. In recent years she has col­la­bo­ra­ted with among others Beeldensmederij De Maan, LOD muziek­the­a­ter, KVS, NTGent, De Grote Post, Kunstenplatform Plan B, KAAP, wpZimmer, Concertgebouw Brugge, Platform In De Maak, Giolli tea­tro di foro Parma,… Her last solo work, the in situ audio per­for­man­ce T‑2123 was at the first edi­ti­on of Reiefestival Bruges and she rewor­ked it last sum­mer into T‑2124’ for Theater Aan Zee. She made two docu­men­ta­ry per­for­man­ces Rustoord’ and Boerenpsalm’ together with Martha Balthazar, Jana De Kockere and Mats Vandroogenbroeck. With The Great Escape,’ she did artis­tic research on the (col­lec­ti­ve) rural desi­re among cre­a­ti­ve urbanites.


In 2019, together with Oihana Azpillaga, Zoë Demoustier and Eline Dewaele, she foun­ded Platform In De Maak, which breaks a lan­ce for star­ting per­for­ming artists and col­la­bo­ra­ti­ve orga­ni­zing. Since 2023, she has wor­ked clo­se­ly with Martha Balthazar within the non-pro­fit orga­ni­za­ti­on fore­ver stew that faci­li­ta­tes both their sepa­ra­te and joint artis­tic practice.
