
Anouk Friedli & Barbara T'Jonck
Anouk Friedli studied directing and writing at RITCS. She lives and works in Brussels as a playwright, performer and writer. As a writer and director, she has worked with Theater Fabuleus, Theater Zuidpool, NTGent, DE SINGEL, Monty Kultuurfaktorij, CAMPO, Kunstenwerkplaats, C‑takt, Literaturhaus Graz and the Shakespeare is Dead Festival, among others. She wrote and directed the plays Alex Moons and dance, dance, dance [a play in about ten thousand words]. The latter play premiered at DE SINGEL (Antwerp) in the summer of 2024. In addition to her work as a writer and director, she developed a feedback method for developing texts with Anna Carlier. With the support of a research grant, she also investigated the (im)possibility of directing in non-hierarchical work contexts.
She is currently working with Bas Vanderschoot on Endless Stew, a project on democracy and circular collaboration in collaboration with Cultureghem and Workspacebrussels. In 2019, she co-founded For Real vzw with Guus Diepenmaat. Under this banner, they made together ‘What The God’ , a ritual performance about the relationship between ratio and underbelly that was shown at Theater Aan Zee festival, C‑takt festival and Love At First Sight festival, among others. Guus and Anouk are also the founders of ANGRYBODIES, a performative punk band that celebrates the emancipatory power of anger.Barbara T’Jonck is a performer, theater maker and artistic researcher with a background in Philosophy. In recent years she has collaborated with among others Beeldensmederij De Maan, LOD muziektheater, KVS, NTGent, De Grote Post, Kunstenplatform Plan B, KAAP, wpZimmer, Concertgebouw Brugge, Platform In De Maak, Giolli teatro di foro Parma,… Her last solo work, the in situ audio performance ‘T‑2123’ was at the first edition of Reiefestival Bruges and she reworked it last summer into ‘T‑2124’ for Theater Aan Zee. She made two documentary performances ‘Rustoord’ and ‘Boerenpsalm’ together with Martha Balthazar, Jana De Kockere and Mats Vandroogenbroeck. With ‘The Great Escape,’ she did artistic research on the (collective) rural desire among creative urbanites.
In 2019, together with Oihana Azpillaga, Zoë Demoustier and Eline Dewaele, she founded Platform In De Maak, which breaks a lance for starting performing artists and collaborative organizing. Since 2023, she has worked closely with Martha Balthazar within the non-profit organization forever stew that facilitates both their separate and joint artistic practice.
