What if an artist talk transforms into an unhinged therapy session, situated somewhere between a dark daydream and a cheerful talkshow? By combining self-deprecating cloud rap and pop lyrics with (fictional) artist interviews, we, Simon Baetens and Micha Goldberg, aim to create a portrait of the artist today. How do they communicate their darkest emotions? How do they articulate their personality and artistry within their work?

After creating the solo performance I’m Not Done, I, Simon, am diving deeper into my fascination with identity in the (post-)internet age. Two people constantly interrogate one another. Are we witnessing an artistic Q&A? An interview? Therapy? For injuries & remedies, I am writing dialogues for Micha Goldberg and myself, based on song lyrics, existing interviews and artist talks, personal confessions, and both real and invented autobiographies and memories.

What emerges is an ever-transforming, multilingual conversation with one constant: the inexhaustible urge to pick each other’s brains and keep asking questions, fueled by the conviction that our inner world says something about who we are and the art we create. Do we get closer to a true self” this way, or do we discover that identity is merely a carefully curated construction? The answer likely lies somewhere in the middle.
