A ‘danse macabre’ for the 21st century
The concept of the ‘danse macabre’ has been a constant throughout Western cultural history. Michiel Vandevelde and his five dancers explore various ‘dances of death’, from the Middle Ages to the present. In the 21st century, with its rising suicide rate and climate disasters, death is perhaps just as ubiquitous as it was back then. How can the intensely physical experience of dance help us to deal with death and loss nowadays? Discover a classic dance concept that has been reinterpreted especially for Bruges!
