After Light is a tactile parcours that approaches touch as a mode of perception and witnessing beyond the dominance of sight. At its heart lies a text by Palestinian author Alaa Alqaisi, written shortly before her evacuation from Gaza. Resisting the economy of images through which Gaza is most often mediated, her words become a tactile landscape traced, felt and held by the audience’s hands.

As visitors move through the piece, the searching hand becomes the guiding sense. Meaning unfolds through contact. Words emerge in sound. The intimate gesture of touch connects to collective histories of enduring, caring and surviving in the dark.

After Light emerges from a close collaboration between three artists working across performing arts, media art and literature.
