Yasmina Reggad

Yasmina Reggad is a per­for­man­ce artist and direc­tor, wri­ter, researcher,dramaturge and inde­pen­dent cura­tor based in Brussels, Belgium. Sheholds an MA in Medieval History from the Sorbonne University. She co-foun­ded and was the cura­tor at aria (artist resi­d­en­cy in algiers) and­pre­vious­ly wor­ked at the Delfina Foundation (UK), Art Dubai Projects (UAE)and the Bienal das Amazônias (BR). Recently, Yasmina Reggad was­cu­ra­tor of Zineb Sedira’s solo pre­sen­ta­ti­on at the French Pavilion — the59th Venice Biennale in 2022 (IT).

As a per­for­man­ce artist, Yasmina Reggad con­ducts research and devel­op­s­pro­jects that inves­ti­ga­te alter­na­ti­ve sys­tems of know­led­ge and artis­tic­mo­des of pro­duc­ti­on as well as explo­re per­for­ma­ti­ve metho­do­lo­gies­in­for­med by past and pre­sent mili­tant acti­ons and practices.Yasmina Reggad has cre­a­ted per­so­nal pro­jects that span dif­fe­rent gen­res­from per­for­man­ce and lec­tu­re-per­for­man­ce to dan­ce pie­ces, and sound­in­ter­ven­ti­ons and (pira­te) broad­cas­ting. Her works is often based onun­con­ven­ti­o­nal audio-visu­al and docu­men­ta­ry archi­ves, and ope­ra­tes as acom­pa­n­ion to the prac­ti­ce of essay wri­ting. Yasmina Reggad also works as a dra­ma­tur­ge and has col­la­bo­ra­ted wit­hcho­re­o­grap­her Ioanna Angelopoulou, dan­cer-cho­re­o­grap­her Trajal Harrell,and per­for­man­ce artists/​directors Carlos Azeredo Mesquita and LucileSaada Choquet.Yasmina Reggad was a 2019 – 2020 Fellow of the Sundance InstituteTheatre Program (USA).She is a foun­ding board mem­ber of the­per­for­man­ce struc­tu­re new­po­lip­ho­nies vzw (BE) and Talitha, a struc­tu­re­de­di­ca­ted archi­ving cine­ma (FR).
